A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of PC Keith Blakelock 25 years ago, it has been reported today.
PC Blakelock was hacked to death in October 1985 during the Broadwater Farm riots in Tottenham.
The news of the arrest comes as the Metropolitan Police struggles to regain any dignity following the conviction and jailing of former Commander Ali Dizaei on charges of misconduct and perverting the course of justice.
Metropolitan Police sources confirmed that Waad al-Baghdadi, 24, of London, had been arrested in connection with the brutal murder. A spokesman said, "acting on information provided by a senior source, who sadly as of yesterday is no longer in the Force, we have today made an arrest and a man is currently helping police with their enquiries. We are confident that once we havefabricated consolidated all the evidence against Mr Baghdadi, we will be able to get our own back justice for dobbing in one of our own PC Blakelock's murder. "
